Ayad is a UK qualified solicitor and also an Iraqi lawyer. He has extensive UK and international experience (with a special focus on the MENA, Asia, Europe and Africa regions).
His experience covers corporate, commercial law, M&A, private equity, construction, infrastructure projects (including power, renewables, water, district cooling), project finance, oil and gas, petrochemicals, mining, shipping, defence, employment law, product liability, intellectual property, regulatory and compliance, sport, media, real estate, and international dispute resolution including advising on a number of high profile and complex international arbitrations (under UNCITRAL, ICC, DIAC, CIETAC, LCIA, Saudi Arbitration (conducting the entire arbitration process in Arabic) and Ad Hoc Arbitration Rules) and mediation.
Since joining LXL in 2003 Ayad has worked on a number of high profile projects and contentious cases in different jurisdictions including Bahrain, Iraq, Saudi Arabia, UAE, Oman, Jordan, Egypt, Mauritania, Sudan, Tanzania, Zambia, Malaysia, China, Kazakhstan, Italy, Russia, UK and numerous offshore jurisdictions (covering Bermuda, BVI, Isle of Man to state a few). The list of companies he has advised includes the likes of Acwa Power, Alcoa Inc. (covering a number of its European subsidiaries in the UK, Spain, Switzerland, France, and Italy), CNPC, EDF, Edison, Fozan Group, Gapco, Gezhouba Group, Mitsubishi, NTCC, ONGC, Petronas, Rawabi Holding, Reliance Industries, Sarawak Petchem, SinoHydro, Sumou Holding, Veolia, and Wasco.
